Choosing your wedding dress is a very important step that should be taken well in advance of your big day. It’s best not to leave it to the last minute! You risk not finding the dress that perfectly suits you, or not having enough time to have the necessary alterations made.

Define the style of dress you want

Several fittings are needed to find the right wedding dress. But before rushing into a boutique and to keep the number of fittings to a minimum, it’s essential to have a fairly clear idea of the dress you want from the outset.

The first criterion is silhouette. You may dream of wearing the same dress as your favourite star, but her figure may not be the same as yours. You therefore need to know and take your body shape into account to identify which style of wedding dress suits you — with or without a train, voluminous, flowing, with a corset, princess style, and so on. But don’t worry: our consultants will be on hand to guide you if you’re not sure how to identify your body type.

The second criterion is budget. It’s important to set your budget in advance (and stick to it!) to avoid falling in love with a dress that could strain your finances. This will also help you narrow down your options and focus on dresses that are truly right for you.

During your wedding dress fitting, keep the number of people present to a minimum. It can be tempting to gather opinions from your mother, sister, best friends and cousins, but everyone will have a different view — and you may end up with unnecessary extra fittings as a result.

Three appointments after choosing your dress

At Couture Nuptiale, we are with you every step of the way. You can book an appointment online, whether you’ve fallen in love with a particular dress or simply want to explore our different collections. Once you’ve found the dress of your dreams, we offer three appointments:

  • The “couture” appointment: our seamstresses pin the dress to identify all the adjustments needed. At this stage it is also possible to personalise the dress — we can adjust the straps, close up the neckline slightly, shorten the train, add or remove rhinestones, add sleeves, and more.
  • The second appointment, the “check” fitting, allows the bride-to-be to see how her altered wedding dress looks. Further personalisation work can still be carried out at this stage to create a truly unique dress that is in perfect harmony with your wishes and figure.
  • At the third appointment, you collect your wedding dress. It is pressed and packed in two garment bags to keep it in perfect condition during transport.

As your vision develops, you can add accessories to personalise your wedding dress: mittens, veil, stole, bolero, tiara, and more. We also offer a beautiful selection of shoes — a very important element of your outfit. They need to complement the dress and keep you comfortable throughout the evening! You will try a few steps during a fitting to make sure you can wear your shoes for several hours.

While several appointments may be needed to choose the right wedding dress, avoid overdoing it — stay focused on your goal!

In any case, planning well ahead is absolutely essential!
