It makes many little girls dream. So it is no surprise that the princess wedding dress is very often women’s favorite model when they get married! Your wedding is a unique opportunity to wear, once in your life, this kind of imposing, fairy-tale and magical dress.

What is a princess wedding dress?

This kind of model is characterized by a bustier top or thin straps, a marked waist and a very flared bottom. It can also be embellished with a train of varying length to perfect the fairy-tale look.

Wedding dress stores and designers compete in imagination to offer brides-to-be modern princess dresses adapted to their wishes. This is the case of Couture Nuptiale, a wedding dress boutique in Paris, which presents, in its showroom and in its various points of sale across France, a great many princess wedding dress models. They come from the Couture Nuptiale collection, Atelier Nuptial or Rose Angel.

The princess wedding dress suited to different body shapes

The princess wedding dress (close to the models called “ball gowns“) is suited to different types of figure, in particular “A” shapes, which have a narrower bust than hips. Indeed, this cut will highlight your narrow bust while concealing wider hips. It will also draw your waist harmoniously.

Of course, “8” shapes (curvy figures, bust and hips aligned) can absolutely be tempted by the princess wedding dress, provided they choose a suitable neckline. For example, if your princess dress has a bustier top, you will need to make sure it does not flatten your bust. You may be better off opting for a strap or surplice top.

The princess wedding dress may, in some cases, be less suited to “H” shapes (bust and hips aligned, barely marked waist), who would be better off choosing flowing dresses which, precisely, will conceal this lack of curves.

Which fabrics for a princess wedding dress?

The princess wedding dress can be made in different fabrics: lace, satin, tulle… It often displays a mix of fabrics, to mark the difference between the bustier and the bottom. These noble fabrics can be embellished with rhinestones or embroidery. Be careful, however, not to overload a dress that would lose its elegance.

At Couture Nuptiale, during the first fitting appointment, we offer to adjust but also to personalize your princess dress. You can thus request modifications from our seamstresses such as adding straps or rhinestones, closing a neckline, integrating a back lacing, etc. You will be able to appreciate the final result during a second follow-up appointment, before coming back to collect your dress, carefully packaged and pressed.

You can also embellish your wedding dress with a few accessories: a tiara (to be a real princess), a bolero or a stole (for those who feel the cold) or gloves or mittens (an undeniable mark of elegance).

You will thus enjoy a wedding dress that resembles you and will undeniably be the princess of the evening!
